About the Sports Section
Games and sports are an integral part in the life of a student. A student should study hard to be successful in competitive examinations. But, he should also play games and sports to enjoy the health and vigor of life. A healthy nation is always a wealthy nation. Therefore, it is necessary to put emphasis on sports. One can think of a healthy mind only in a healthy body. Both physical and mental well-being are the prerequisites of great achievements in life. Studies have shown that exercise increases blood flow to the brain and helps the body build more connections between nerves, leading to increased concentration, enhanced memory, stimulated creativity, and better-developed problem solving skills. In short, playing sports helps your brain grow and makes it work better.
How can sport help us?Playing sports helps you stay in shape, teaches you how to organize your time, boosts friendships, and builds relationships with your peers and adults. Recreational activities can range from physical actions such as team sports to playing in the park or taking a hike in nature. To keep the engineering students physically fit, the physical education and sports is introduced as compulsory subject for engineering student in 1st & 2nd Semester with One Credit.
The Outdoor Games Facilities:- Basketball (One Courts with flood lights)
- Cricket Cemented pitch with Nets (With flood lights)
- Football (Flood lights available)
- Kabaddi Court
- Volleyball (One courts with flood lights)
- Badminton (Outdoor court with Flood Lights)
The Indoor Games provides the following facilities:
- Chess
- Caroms
- Table Tennis
- Indoor Gym in the Boys Hostel
Activities of the Section include:
- To motivate and encourage students to participate in sports & games to attain good physical state and health.
- To coordinate and monitor the sports and games activities for the students of the institute.
- To convene cultural, co-curricular and other activities of the students.
- To take theory as well as practical classes of all B.Tech 1st year students focussing on their well-being and health.
- To supervise and monitor regular sports practice for the institute’s teams in various sports.
- To arrange and purchase playing equipment/goods for students required for their recreation/play purpose.
- To take measures for most effective utilization of the existing sports facilities.
- To coordinate and assist Dean Student Welfare in implementing various students’ welfare schemes, activities and ministry directions (e.g., Independence Day fortnight, Ekta diwas etc.).
- To maintain stock register of sports (consumables and non-consumables).
- Maintenance of play grounds and courts.
- To enable student to participate in various inter NIT’s and other sports festivals/tournaments and making all necessary arrangements (such as transportation, sports ’kits etc.) in a timely manner.
- To conduct annual sports fest ZEAL and other sports activities for students.
- To coordinate with IITs, NITs and IIITs and other higher learning institutions for organising activities.
- To maintain record and documentation of sports purchases in the institute.
- To advise on any other matter related to student activities.
