Transport Facility
NIT Delhi provides safe and reliable, non/air-conditioned ‘to and fro’ vehicle transportation to its registered member (student/faculty/staff) from NILERD (Old campus, NIT Delhi) to the main campus and Jahangirpuri metro station to the main campus. Similar facility can be arranged from other points in the city, depending on the demand for the same. The Institute has a luxury & non/air-conditioned fleet of buses/cars with the best of safety arrangements available for the neighbouring areas. The students in Institute buses are accompanied by well-trained attendants/ escorts to ensure their safety.
TRANSPORT RULES
1: Transport facility will be made available on specified routes and designated stops only, at the sole discretion of the competent authority.
2: It is to understand that Institute transport, like any other vehicle on road, may get delayed sometimes due to traffic conditions, road conditions, or some technical fault. The passengers should understand these practical situations and they should be at their best in cooperating towards the same.
3: The Institute transport routes are subject to change depending upon the requirements of the its members (students/Faculties/Staffs) and it is at the sole discretion of the competent authority.
4: Institute transport is an optional facility and it cannot be claimed as a matter of right by any member (student/ faculty/staff) except official duty. The competent authority reserves the right to withdraw the transport facility from any traveller without assigning any reason whatsoever.
5: The transport is arranged by the Institute for a complete semester/year.
DISCIPLINARY NORMS IN THE INSTITUTE
1: All members using the Institute bus are expected to be on the left side of the Institute bus at their designated bus stops at least ten minutes before the arrival time of the bus. The buses will not wait for the latecomers.
2: The availability of Institute transport to the travellers is subject to adherence to disciplinary norms. Any misbehaviour that distracts the driver is a serious violation and could harm someone. Therefore, learners are required:
a. to remain seated while the bus is in motion.
b. to obey the instructions of the Bus Driver/ ln-charge.
c. not to throw objects in or out of the bus.
d. not to use indecent language in the bus with fellow pupils or the bus staff.
e. not to damage the seats, curtains, etc. in the bus.
f. not to fight or threaten other students in the bus.
g. to abstain from any unruly behaviour in the bus.
If any person is reported for any of the above violations, the Institute will take the following actions:
FIRST OFFENCE:- Warning and report to the local guardian.
SECOND OFFENCE:- Call the Local guardian/parents and suspend the person’s traveling on the bus for one week.
THIRD OFFENCE:- Institute Transport facility shall be withdrawn with a heavy fine.
