VISION

To communicate quality Computer Science Education for producing globally identifiable skilled technocrats and entrepreneurs upholding sound ethics, profound knowledge, and innovative ideas to meet industrial and societal expectations.

MISSION

M1 To impart value-based technical knowledge and skill relevant to Computer Science and Engineering through effective pedagogies and hands-on experience on the latest tools and technologies to maximize employability.
M2 To strengthen multifaceted competence, nurture creativity, and innovation, andcreate entrepreneurial environment for an ever-changing technological scenario requiring communally cognizant solutions.
M3 To create an appetite for research, and higher education in contemporary, and emerging areas of Computer Science.

MESSAGE FROM HOD

Welcome to the Computer Science and Engineering Department at NIT Delhi!

As the Head of the CSE Department, I am delighted to extend my warmest greetings to all of you. Our department takes pride in offering cutting-edge educational programs and fostering an environment that encourages innovation, research, and excellence.

We provide comprehensive B Tech and M Tech programs in Computer Science and Engineering, equipping our students with a strong foundation and specialized knowledge. The Department started in 2010 with the intake of 30 which presently has increased to 120. Besides two M Tech programmes in CSE and CSE(Analytics), we offer Ph.D. programs in various crucial areas, promoting advanced research and scholarly pursuits. To name a few Algorithms, Computer Networks, Data Warehousing and Data Mining, Software Engineering, Machine Learning, Image Processing, Web Technologies, Data Analytics, Complex Networks, Wireless Sensor Networks etc.

Our research facilities include state-of-the-art labs for Ubiquitous Computing, Computational Intelligence & Smart Motion Research (CISMR), Data Science, Databases, Networking and Programming, enabling students and faculty members to explore innovative solutions and advancements in these domains. Through these labs, we encourage hands-on experience, collaboration, and interdisciplinary research.

At NIT Delhi CSE, we believe in keeping up with the latest technological trends. Therefore, we have recently introduced a B Tech program in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science to cater to the growing demand and opportunities in these fields.

Our faculty members are distinguished in their respective domains and are dedicated to guiding and mentoring our students in their academic journey. We also actively collaborate with industry partners, research organizations, and global institutions, which provides our students with exposure to real-world challenges and opportunities.
The department is involved in numerous research projects that address important societal and technological challenges. We regularly organize international conferences, workshops, and FDPs, creating a platform for knowledge exchange and networking among experts in the field.

We encourage a vibrant and inclusive learning environment that nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork. Our aim is to empower our students with the skills and knowledge necessary to become leaders and problem solvers in the ever-evolving world of technology.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

PO-1 To prepare graduates with a solid foundation in Engineering, Mathematical Science and technology for a successful career in Mathematics & Computing/ Finance/Computer Engineering fields.
PO-2 To prepare graduates to become effective collaborators/ innovators, who could ably address tomorrow’s social, technical and engineering challenges.
PO-3To enrich graduates with integrity and ethical values so that they become responsible engineers.
PO-4To apply mathematics, numerical computation, and applications of systems-oriented ideas to the physical, biological, social, and behavioral sciences.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

B Tech Computer Science and Engineering

PEO-1 Graduates are prepared to be employed in IT industries and be engaged in continuous learning, understanding, and applying innovative ideas while maintaining strong ethical standards.
PEO-2 Graduates are prepared to pursue higher studies and continue to develop their professional knowledge.
PEO-3 Graduates are equipped to do research in areas of specialization and the allied fields.
PEO-4 Graduates are prepared to meet the changing needs of society through knowledge-based service, exhibit leadership qualities with demonstrable attributes in lifelong learning and become successful entrepreneurs.

M Tech Computer Science and Engineering (Analytics)

PEO-1 Post Graduates will establish themselves as influential professionals by solving real problems through computer science knowledge and with attention to teamwork, effective communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
PEO-2 Post Graduates will demonstrate their ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment by learning and applying new skills and technologies.
PEO-3 Post Graduates shall drive scientific and societal advancement through technological innovation and entrepreneurship.
PEO-4 Post Graduates will be prepared for excellence and leadership roles along diverse career paths, encouraging professional ethics and active participation needed for a successful career.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES

B Tech Computer Science and Engineering

Engineering Graduates will be able to:
1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
9. Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
10. Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
11. Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
12. Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

M Tech Computer Science and Engineering (Analytics)

Post Graduates will have the ability to:
1 Ability to apply knowledge to design and analyze complex engineering problems using appropriate analytical methods.
2 Ability to independently carry out research /investigation and development work to solve practical problems.
3 Ability to write and present a substantial technical report/document.
4 Post Graduates should be able to demonstrate a degree of mastery over the area as per the specialization of the program. The mastery should be at a level higher than the requirements in the appropriate bachelor program.
5 Post Graduates will show the understanding of technical communication and the impact of Engineering solutions on the society and also be aware of contemporary issues.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSOs)

B Tech Computer Science and Engineering

PSO-1 Ability to analyze, develop and design new tools and approaches to create cutting-edge solutions for Industry.
PSO-2 Ability to carry out research and education in trans-disciplinary fields to solve the problems of national as well as international significance.

M Tech Computer Science and Engineering (Analytics)

PSO-1 To be able to analyze, interpret and provide solutions to the advanced software tools for designing real-life computer science and engineering problems.
PSO-2 Ability to practice as an ethical Analytics Engineer or Researcher in the evolving disciplines of Computer Science and Engineering and its allied application domains by employing soft and project management skills learned through internships, project work, and collaborative projects with industry.
